Getting to know San Marino
San Marino is a city of greatness and grandeur! Incorporated as a city on April 25, 1913, the city started of as the "Rancho Shorb", and was purchased by Henry E. Huntington in 1903 and the "Shorb/Huntington Rancho", is on the site of the world famous "Huntington Library and Gardens" today. Among the many notable people who have lived here are George Smith Patton (1856-1927), the first mayor of San Marino, who married Ruth Wilson, the daughter of Don Benito Wilson, (Mt. Wilson), Their son was George S. Patton Jr., was the famous World War II general. Great architecture and wealth have always gravitated to here and both are very much present today. Known for an excellent public school system and beautiful "Lacy Park", living in San Marino is definitely a sign that you have arrived!!!
